Careers with Camp Randall Rowing Club

Our coaches are known for their passion, experience, and expertise with rowing. They are the foundation of our program and committed to CRRC’s mission:

  • To develop student-athletes and help them achieve their goals
  • Be competitive annually at a national level while also providing athletes with the knowledge and skills base necessary to row and train at a higher level.
  • To train the “whole athlete”. This includes gaining athletic maturity and developing good pre-performance routines (nutrition, sleep, hydration, stretching, etc) to learning how to prevent injury and be able to better hold themselves accountable on and off the water.
  • For athletes to be able to practice in small boats, developing their boat-moving abilities.

CRRC Coaching Structure

Our Head Coach works with the varsity athletes of our Junior Competitive Team while also overseeing our entire staff. The head coach is a full-time employee that manages the daily operations of our club alongside our volunteer Board of Directors.

Junior Competitive Team Staff – A staff of 3-4 assistant coaches work under the guidance of the head coach. Together, the staff develops and implements a long-term development model for the athletes. Our novice coaches teach the basic elements of rowing while instilling a passion for the sport. Our assistant varsity coaches are the vital bridge between the novice and varsity squads.

Middle School Crew Staff – Our lead middle school coach supervises the daily operations of our middle school program. The lead coach works with 1-2 assistants to formulate a structured environment focusing on having fun while learning to row.

Summer Coaching Staff – Summer at CRRC is busy with camps running all day Monday-Friday. Each summer, we look to bring in additional coaches to help share their passion for the sport while gaining experience in coaching. Our Lead Summer Camp Coach supervises a staff that will work with our junior and middle school programs, our high performance team, and our learn-to-row camps.

STEM-to-Stern Coordinator – This NEW position on our staff is working to expand our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of our club.

Adult Program Coaches – While our youth programs are the focus of our club, we also offer adult programming. The We Can Row coach works with women who are surviving cancer. Other coaches work with adult rowers in both Learn to Row and Masters programs.

Boatman – Keeping our equipment in working condition is critical to the daily operations of our club.

The majority of our staff are part-time employees. Those seeking a career with Camp Randall may combine coaching duties as seen fit. In addition to performing duties in the positions described above, our staff also oversees recruiting, our annual spring regatta, and more.
