Our
Story
Camp Randall Rowing Club was formed in 1995 as a loosely and informally organized club to allow University of Wisconsin alumni to row under a club name. Since that time, it's grown into a community-wide volunteer organization that provides the finest competitive rowing experience possible in an inclusive, encouraging, and safe environment.
In partnership with our Camp Randall families and dedicated coaching staff, we build strong people by teaching valuable lifelong lessons, encouraging responsible and respectful sportsmanship, and instilling a lifelong passion for excellence learned both on and off the water.
Our
Boathouse
In 2001, Camp Randall Rowing Club initiated the Brittingham Boathouse Renovation Project. This project involved the restoration and historic renovation of the Brittingham Boathouse located in downtown Madison at 617 North Shore Drive on Monona Bay. The club joined with the Madison Parks Department to renovate the historic boathouse, the oldest surviving park structure in the City of Madison. It is listed on the National Historic Landmarks Registry.
On May 3, 2007, the 2007 Historic Preservation Award was presented to Camp Randall Rowing Club by the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation in recognition of its outstanding preservation efforts on the boathouse. On June 11, 2007, the Wisconsin Historic Society Board of Curators and Awards Committee selected Camp Randall and the Madison Parks Department to receive the Historic Preservation Award. These awards honor Camp Randall Rowing Club’s work to protect boathouse, a Wisconsin historic property.
