Camp Randall Rowing Club (CRRC) offers a competitive rowing program for high school students throughout our community. No previous experience is required. This program, known as Juniors in the world of rowing, is also open to mature 8th grade students who have some previous rowing experience.
Our Junior Program Mission:
- To develop student-athletes and help them achieve their goals
- Be competitive annually at a national level while also providing athletes with the knowledge and skills base necessary to row and train at a higher level.
- To train the “whole athlete”. This includes gaining athletic maturity and developing good pre-performance routines (nutrition, sleep, hydration, stretching, etc) to learning how to prevent injury and be able to better hold themselves accountable on and off the water.
- For athletes to be able to practice in small boats, developing their boat-moving abilities.
The Fall season of rowing is considered the “endurance” season in rowing. Rowing is similar to cross country and track in that the fall racing season is longer races (3000-6000m) and spring is shorter (1500-2000m) sprint races. Athletes are constantly training their fitness and technique; there are opportunities for our athletes to compete locally, regionally, and nationally in both Spring and Fall seasons. Camp Randall Rowing takes advantage of all the days we can get on the water before a winter of on land training. We open our on water season with a week long spring break training in Tennessee.
