Junior Rowing

Camp Randall Rowing Club (CRRC) offers a competitive rowing program for high school students throughout our community. No previous experience is required. This program, known as Juniors in the world of rowing, is also open to mature 8th grade students who have some previous rowing experience.

Fall/Winter Season August 21, 2017 – March 2, 2018

The team practices at the Brittingham Boathouse, 617 North Shore Drive, on Monona Bay near the Monona Terrace Convention Center. Camp Randall Juniors participate in regattas throughout the Midwest, competing against other club and high school crews. Camp Randall offers a free two-week trial for new rowers.  HOWEVER, registration and signing the USRowing waiver are also necessary for this trial period. Payment is not due until the two-week trial has ended and the rower wishes to continue with the program.

The year is divided into two seasons, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.  

Junior Rowing Fall/Winter Practice Schedule

  • Sept 5- November 4 – ALL JUNIOR ROWERS M-F 4:30-6:30; Saturday 7-9am
  • No practice on October 9 (following Rockford); optional to unload trailer
  • No practice on October 30 (following Blake Haxton); optional to unload trailer
  • Nov 6-Nov 22 – MWF 4:30-6pm
  • No practice Nov 23 and 24
  • Nov 27-Dec 21 – M-F 4:30-6pm
  • No practice Dec 22-Jan 7
  • Jan 8-March 2 – M-F 4:30-6pm

Note: Sometimes this practice session will be altered at the coaches discretion. Coaches will notify rowers of any changes. 

Shore Only Winter Season Workouts November 6, 2017 – March 2, 2018

  • Nov 6 –Mar 2 MWF, 4:30-6pm
  • No practice Nov 23 and 24
  • Nov 27-Dec 21 – M-F 4:30-6pm
  • No practice Dec 22-Jan 7
  • Jan 8-March 2 – M-F 4:30-6pm


During the fall racing season, Camp Randall will compete in several regattas. Costs associated with the fall regatta season are included in the fee unless otherwise noted.

  • September 16: Milwaukee River Challenge, Milwaukee, WI; varsity only
  • October 8:  Head of the Rock, Rockford, IL ; full junior team 
  • October 20-22: Head of the Charles, Boston, MA; select varsity boats only – an additional fee is collected for rowers who make the boat. 
  • October 27-28: Blake Haxton, Dublin, OH; full junior team

Fall/Winter Fees are due in full by August 21 or the first day you practice thereafter.  Families in need of payment plans or scholarships, please click here.

  • Option 2: Winter Season Shore Only Workouts: $250
