Fundraisers

Bucky’s Locker Room

Bucky’s Locker Room (BLR) is Camp Randall Rowing Club’s major fall fundraiser. Bucky’s Locker Room, located within Camp Randall Stadium, assigns CRRC four booths at each of the UW home football games.  CRRC sells UW licensed merchandise and, in exchange, receives a significant amount of revenue.

The booths are staffed by volunteer rowers and parents. Each booth is staffed by a minimum of two people, which means at least eight volunteers per game. That’s 56 people volunteering once for the seven game football season.

BLR requires at least one person in each booth to have worked a booth during the prior year or to have attended a one-hour formal training session prior to the beginning of the fall football season (usually mid August). The training is held at Bucky’s Locker Room, which is on the field level of Camp Randall Stadium just inside the main entrance on Monroe Street.

Working at the booth is about a 6-hour commitment. About 3.5 hours before the game, the volunteers meet in front of the main entrance to the stadium and receive passes for game day. They are required to set up the booth, sell merchandise before, during, and after the game, and then reorganize and put away the merchandise. Volunteers are dismissed at the end of the 5th quarter.

Erg-A-Thon

The CRRC Erg-A-Thon is held during the winter season and has become one of the club’s most successful fundraising events. During this “marathon of erging”, ergs (rowing machines) are set up in the atrium of Hilldale Mall, and rowers log at least 10,000 meters. Rowers collect pledges during the two months prior to the event, and spectators can also donate on the spot while the rowers are erging.

The erg-a-thon has enabled the club to purchase a truck, boats, oars, and other essential equipment.
