Assistant Summer Coach
Coach Emily Olson joined the CRRC staff in June of 2021. She previously was a coach for the
CRRC summer learn to row programs in 2016 and helped with We Can Row practices when
needed. Emily has been involved in rowing since her junior year of high school.
Prior to rowing she had competed in club basketball, volleyball, and softball for seven years. Due to a series of
knee surgeries she was in search of a sport that would not be as impact heavy on joints.
From 2013-2105 she rowed for CRRC and found where she felt at home. During her junior year
of high school she attended the U.S. Rowing National Team Development Camp in New
London, CT. This camp fostered her competitiveness and passion for rowing. Following the
camp she was recruited by over 20 Division I rowing programs. Emily went on to row for The
George Washington University in Washington, D.C. for all four years of her undergraduate
studies. Furthermore, during the summer of 2017 she trained with UW in their small sculling
boats. This experience cultivated a new appreciation for speed and boat feel that singles and
doubles can translate to larger sweep shells.
Coach Emily values respect, accountability, and determination and hopes that her athletes will
find these to be true to themselves as well. She holds a SafeSport certification and has a B.S. in
Exercise Science. In spring of 2022 she will also graduate nursing school. Emily resides in Sun
Prairie, WI with her black lab/amstaff Georgie.
