Scrimmage against New Trier High School

The Camp Randall Rowing varsity squads have been invited to race New Trier and select Chicago crews on Saturday October 21, 2017 and we have accepted the challenge to race one of the fastest teams in the Midwest. Given that the varsity boys were not selected to race at the Head of the Charles and only six Varsity girls are racing in Boston, racing New Trier presents a great opportunity for CRRC to finalize our preparations for the Blake Haxton regatta the following weekend and gain much needed racing experience.

According to Coach Mike, “We will be racing both varsity 8s and 4s with select novice rowers included to fill out boats. Arriving around 9am in Chicago, the scrimmage will recreate what most college racing is like: you show up, rig boats, and then go bang heads against fast crews on unfamiliar waters. While formal regattas are nice, during this scrimmage CRRC’s athletes will experience racing in its most pure format. And it will also give our rowers and coxswains another chance to fine tune their racing strategies before the last race of the fall season.”

We will be traveling by school bus from the Pick ‘n Save on University, leaving at 6 a.m. and returning by 6pm that evening. Please note, Rowers provide all of their food for this event. There will be no onsite meals.  Click here for the full itinerary.

Cost is $45. You must register by Wednesday October 18.

Seats on the bus will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis to parents for $20. Please email Mark @ mark.lilleleht@wisc.edu if you are interested in riding with the team.

What to pack: Uniform (all competitors must wear their club colors on the water), appropriate race gear, water bottle, snacks, packed breakfast & lunch, sun screen, clothes for cooler weather, a duffle or backpack for your belongings, homework and other down time activities.
